Check out this interesting blog post from the ScriptJournal Blog on breathing life back into the classic series "The Outer Limits." Pen Densham is a co-founder of Trilogy Entertainment Group considers himself a triple-hyphenate: a writer – producer – & director. He writes for both TV and feature films and is responsible for reviving 'The Outer Limits' and 'The Twilight Zone' to television, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, etc.
"After the success of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, I was approached by MGM TV to discuss developing the Outer Limits for a new generation – it was a brand they wanted to exploit. Except… they were considering using the title and making the show a clone of the X-Files with repeating characters investigating the unusual and scary every week. Not a bad idea from a business perspective, as TV relies on habit and the audience tunes in to see the comfortable and familiar. Anthologies are dangerous and unpredictable without repeatable elements."
